Default Re:What type of water should I use to mix formula?

People have used many types of water to mix with baby’s formula. In general, the tap water from municipal water supplies is perfectly safe and is okay to mix with infant formula.

Tap water that comes from well water may or may not be safe and you might choose to use bottled water. The bottled water can be simply the kind you fill up at the store and refill every time or it can be specialized bottled water that comes in packs at the store.

All of these are safe for the baby and it is hard to argue that one is safer than another. Bottled water is nice to put in the baby’s bag for outings and tap water is cheap and convenient for use at home. Your baby won’t know the difference and there is no one right water to use.

As time goes on, you’ll want your baby to get fluoride for its teeth, which is only available in municipal tap water so when it gets teeth, make sure the baby is getting enough fluoride in its diet. Tap water has been adequately cleansed of any organisms or toxins and is just as good as bottled water, which contains plastic leeched into the water so it has its problems of its own.
