Default Adding formula for a good night's sleep

I am breastfeeding my eight-week old baby. Unfortunately, she wakes up at least twice every night and wants to nurse. A friend of mine feeds her baby formula and gets to sleep through the night. Should I switch to formula as well? I could use an uninterrupted night’s sleep!

Default Re:Adding formula for a good night's sleep

Some moms use formula at night to try and give the infant enough nutrition to allow them to get a fuller night’s sleep. It definitely diminishes the amount of breast milk you will make and you need to be concerned about possible formula allergies but if there are no formula allergies and you breast feed the rest of the time, you can safely try using formula before bedtime. It is also possible to breastfeed longer before bedtime to see if this doesn’t increase your breast milk, allowing for a longer time between feedings.
