Default Nursing in Public

I am nursing my six-week old son. Now that he is getting a little bigger I would like to go out a bit more. However, I feel extremely nervous about nursing in public. Is there a way to do so without people staring or me exposing myself?

Some people will always stare – even if you’re adequately covered. It’s a hang-up people have. If that is going to bother you, you’ll need to figure out how and where to nurse. For example, when I was nursing and headed to the mall, I knew that the ladies’ lounge at Nordstrom was nice and had a sitting area with couch and chairs. I used it fairly often, even when I wasn’t buying anything at Nordstrom. The other recommendation I would have is for the cute new nursing cover-ups that are on the market now. They are very discreet and come in lots of great prints.
