Default I Fell Asleep and Let My Baby Cry for an Hour

I usually never let my little one cry for more than a minute or so. But last night I was exhausted from many broken nights. I put the baby in his bed for just a moment and must have dropped off. When I woke again, it was an hour later and baby was still in the middle of a screaming fit. He was completely exhausted and just plain miserable! I feel horrible and now I worry that this might have been bad for him. How bad do you think that was and is there anything I can do to make up for it?

Default Re:I Fell Asleep and Let My Baby Cry for an Hour

Been there. Done that. Probably more than once. None of my kids appear scarred due to the experience. I still get hugs and kisses and “I love you, Mom” notes all the time.

In all seriousness, you’re exhausted. Don’t beat yourself up over this. But find a way to slip in an extra nap every now and then. You’re human and the only thing you need to do is take care of yourself and give the baby a little extra snuggle. And even that’s not really for him, it’s to make you feel a little better!

You will be an imperfect parent. And that’s okay. We’re all imperfect parents. We raise imperfect children by doing our best. Don’t place unnecessary pressure on yourself. You’re doing your best and you love your child more than anything (I can tell! Really!). He’s lucky to have you.
