Re:Should My C-Section Incision Be Healed By Now?
It usually takes four to six weeks for your c-section incision site to heal. In the meantime, it’s a good idea to support your incision site for sudden movements and actions like stair climbing. You don’t want any unnecessary pulling where it’s trying to heal. It should be getting better. You should be sure to follow any wound care instructions you received upon discharge from the hospital. Keep the area clean and dry. Sometimes your scar will get a little itchy as it heals – try not to scratch. If you’ve got a lot of loose skin hanging over the incision (I know, that’s kind of gross to talk about – but I’m just keeping it real!), make sure that you make extra effort to keep it dry as a yeast infection can actually develop.
You should be scheduled for regular follow-ups at your OB’s office at four, six and/or eight weeks so that your doctor can check your healing progress. Be sure to ask any questions you might have then so your doctor can weigh in.
