Re:Can I exercise while I am breastfeeding?
You can breastfeed while exercising as long as you make sure your intake of water is high enough to support breast feeding and exercise. On days you exercise, drink regularly during the exercise and plan to drink up to 64 ounces of liquid on days you are exercising. This will give you enough fluid to make the breast milk the right consistency without dehydrating you.
When in doubt, talk with your trainer about how much you are exercising and how much fluid you will need extra because of the exercising. A lactation consultant can help you with that as well. If you just stick to consuming 64 ounces of fluid, however, your breast milk should be perfect and you won’t get dehydrated. Bring along a water bottle when you exercise and drink at regular intervals. You should have no problem.
