Re:When Will My Baby Be Ready to Sit On Her Own?
Anytime between now and seven or eight months would be typical. It really depends on the baby. I have twins with very different builds and personalities. One of them sat at about five months – he is also my stubborn and chunky baby. The other crawled before he sat – probably at about six and a half months. He is my more laid-back and skinny baby (not as much backside to anchor the seated position!).
You can work with her to help her develop the muscles necessary for sitting on her own. Tummy time will help strengthen her neck and head control. And then just propping her between your legs for “practice” is good too. Practice sitting her on a comforter with her legs straddled outwards and a toy in front of her. She’ll slump over again and again but she’s getting the idea!
