Re:Eight Month Old Now Cries Whenever Anyone Else Talks to Her or Holds Her
Hello, separation anxiety. This can rear its ugly head anytime from about seven months up through about 18 months. My kids always had a touch of it at about nine and ten months. For others, it’s worst between 12 and 18 months.
Separation anxiety can be eased by showing your baby that you like the person who is trying to hold her or babysit her. If you’re leaving, hang out and play with the two of them for a few minutes. Say goodbye quickly and affectionately but firmly. Don’t drag out the leaving process. Once she figures out that you’re either not leaving or, if you are leaving, will be back for her, she’ll be fine.
