Re:When should my baby be able to sit up?
A baby should be able to sit with some assistance by six months of age. In other words, It will be able to sit in a high chair and be fed baby food but may need a blanket to support its torso.
By the time it is seven months of age, the baby should be able to sit without assistance and should use their hands to hold toys or play with them. Every baby is different, however, and some babies will sit up before six months of age. Boys, especially, are more advanced than girls when it comes to large motor skills like sitting, standing and walking.
You can help your baby sit up by sitting him or her up in a high chair or other surface and then wrapping a blanket or towel around their bottom. It keeps them from tipping over and they learn how to strengthen their torso in order to sit themselves up on their own.
