Re:When will my baby learn to roll over?
Babies roll over at different times and they roll from front to back and from back to front at different times. Babies initially can move from front to their back. This can happen as early as two months or as late as three or more months.
Two to two and a half months is about right. They then learn to move from their back to front. This usually takes about a month later than moving from front to back. It requires a coordinated movement to roll one’s head and body over onto the baby’s front and it’s actually quite difficult.
Girls tend to do large motor skills later than boys do but eventually they catch up and can do the same things boys can. You can help your baby move from front to back by relying on their natural reflex to do so. As the get their head around, you can gently help them untangle their legs so that they move around along with the head.
Sometimes the arm gets caught and you’ll have to help it get out of the way. Eventually, the baby learns how to do the whole thing by himself.
