If the carseat has never been in a wreck and is less than six years old, you can probably take it and feel secure in its safety. Make sure that you check its model number online for any safety recalls.
If the seat has been in a wreck, don’t take it. There could be structural deficiencies that are not visible to the naked eye. And most manufacturers will tell you that their seats “expire” after about six years. This is due to advancing technology, wear and tear and deterioration of materials.
There are other areas in which you can save money. Don’t risk your baby’s safety if you aren’t confident about the issues referenced above.
