Re:Baby Fell Off the Bed! Should I Call the Dr.?
You are definitely not the first parents to whom this has happened. It is horrifying when it happens (oh, yes, I’m speaking from experience) and can theoretically really injure a baby. The good news is that babies and their little bones are often very resilient. You mention that she hasn’t been nauseous or vomiting. Does she appear to have any lingering pain that might indicate a broken bone? Any swelling or bruising? (Whenever my kids bump their heads, I always check their pupils to make sure that one isn’t unnaturally dilated – I learned that from ER and Grey’s Anatomy…)
In all seriousness, I think it’s probably worth a call to the pediatrician. He or she will ask you some specific questions regarding things to look for and it will put your mind at ease. I’m sure that your little girl is fine – but why not take a few minutes to make that call and be sure?
And make sure that you do whatever is necessary to keep her from falling out again if you intend to continue co-sleeping!
