Default Morning Sickness Affecting Job Performance

I love my job and want to continue working once the baby is born. Unfortunately, I am suffering horrible morning sickness. So far I have mostly managed to go to work but my mind isn't as much on business as it should be (instead trying to keep the food down). Should I talk with my boss about this problem or hope he doesn't notice?

I would definitely talk to the boss. If you want to continue at this job, you’ll need to do good work. If you are concerned that your performance is slipping, it’s probably just a matter of time before the boss notices. And if he doesn’t know your situation, he’ll chalk it up to laziness, incompetence or something else. Better that he know that you are ill. Maybe the two of you can figure out some alternate way for the work to get done. Can you do any work from home, where you might be more comfortable? Is your nausea usually gone after lunch? Maybe you can work a flex schedule for a while until you’re feeling better.

Don’t leave the boss to speculate as to why you’re not doing a good job anymore. Take the bull by the horns and keep your job!
