Re: Can I Skip Buying a Stroller?
When you say “carrier”, do you mean a front pack, sling or pouch? If so, your friend may or may not be correct. It all depends on you, your situation and your baby. Many moms, especially those who subscribe to the idea of attachment parenting, forego strollers in favor of these types of carriers. They are hands-free and keep your baby close to you, helping with mother-baby bonding. A lot of AP families are stroller-free.
You may ultimately still want to get a stroller, even if you intend to use a sling or pouch as your primary mode of baby transport. As your baby grows larger, you may feel the need to take a break from carrying him on occasion. If your partner is not comfortable with baby-wearing and you’d like your partner to be able to take the baby places on his or her own, a stroller will be handy. Or you may find that your baby likes a sling for a while and then changes his or her mind. If you have other small children, a double stroller is handy.
If you’d like to give it a try, I say go for it. You can always head to the baby store or discount store and buy a stroller later on if you decide you need one.
