Re: Managing Twins while Out and About
It ain’t easy, that’s for sure. If one behaves well, the other doesn’t. At least that seems to be the rule at our house. My twin boys are two now and some outings are better than others. My advice would just be to get them out regularly so that they’re used to it.
As far as logistics, I usually strapped my two into their stroller wherever we went. I figured that they would eventually understand that getting out the car meant getting into the stroller. If we were at the store (Target or grocery), I pushed them through the store in their stroller and pulled a shopping cart behind me. It wasn’t particularly fun or efficient but we got the job done. I never messed with taking the infant carriers in and out of the car if I could help it. But then again, I didn’t have a double travel system stroller – which could have made life lots easier!
There were also some times in which I’d put one into a single stroller and wear one in a front pack. “Twins” and “manageable” is a hard combination. I think it gets easier the more you do it though (until they turn about 18 to 24 months and then all the rules get thrown out the window by their newfound “independence”). Good luck!
