Re:How many times should I feed my baby when breast feeding?
Every baby is different in terms of when they are hungry. When you’re breastfeeding, it’s less about giving a certain amount of formula every so many hours and more about paying attention to when your baby is hungry. Newborns often eat about every two to three hours and eventually they get into a schedule of breastfeeding every four hours or so.
They will usually nurse about fifteen minutes on each side and will empty the first breast more than the second breast. This means you’ll have to nurse on the side the baby nursed on last the next time you are nursing. It is more difficult when you’re breastfeeding to know if your baby is getting enough but if the baby seems content after feeding and waits at least two more hours or more before nursing again (and is gaining weight), then the baby is doing fine and is eating enough even though you can’t exactly measure how much the baby is getting at each feeding.
