Default Re: Moving with Children

Several moving tips I've learned in our 4 moves ~

Have a first open box - put things that you will need as soon as you arrive in this box; linens, pots, etc...
Pack your kids like they are traveling for a week, this way you have clothes and essentials without have to rush to unpack.
Unpack your children's room first! The quicker things look normal for them, the quicker they adjust. Its their safe haven, a quiet space that is already put together while working on the rest of the house.
Put all small pieces in zip lock bags. Invest in the XL zip locks and put your drawer contents in them. Silverware, bathroom drawers etc. This saves a lot of time from digging through boxes looking for those missing pieces.
Have a parts box that you keep with you. Anything taken apart that has small pieces, bag and label and toss in your parts box.
Be sure to give your kids lots of love and affection, they need to keep their sense of security.

good luck with the move!
