Default Music & Health

It’s scientifically proven that music calms our nerves and is good for our health. A recent study at Cleveland Clinic shows that music slows the neuronal firings during surgery designed to treat Parkinson disease. Patients were more relax on the operating room while music was played. There are music therapies for children which can be done one-on-one or in a group setting. If your child has a communication, attention, motivation, or behavioral problem is recommendable to go through these therapies. Therapists will show your child a whole variety of instruments and he/she will pick the one your child feels more comfortable with. Everything starts inside the womb. According to a recent study the fetus hears sounds because he is surrounded by amniotic fluid (fluid around amnion). The amnion is the part of the placenta that surrounds and protects a baby in the womb. The fetus also hears the mother’s heartbeat, conversations, and environmental noises. Music has been a tool to revive our spirits for hundreds of years. In both World Wars live music was used to help the soldiers recover. So what are you waiting for? Turn on the radio and live a healthier life…

Thank you for posting this. Not everybody understands the power of music, and its ability to soothe. I always had music on or I would sing to my babies while I was pregnant. I played many baby music CD's for my kids, and to this day, my 6 yr old will still fall asleep after the 1st song of the "Baby Sleep" CD. Its remarkable.

Music is soothing, especially classical music. I listen to classic radio all the time in my car. It helps me a lot to relax after a long work day :-) and ,any other things I have to do when I get home. Bubble baths help me to relax to, especially the ones with dead sea minerals. I fill the bathtub and soak. I love it!

Since I am a musician, I like my children to not just listen to music, but when possible, listen to the best music, and I like to expose them to classical music much of the time. There have been some wild claims made about music, but I'm convinced that music that is better quality has been great for my children's overall mental and emotional development. For lullabies, I would suggest you try this link - they are not only well produced, but have some classical pieces as lullabies too - the best of both worlds! Baby Lullaby Music
