Default A Little Uncomfortable About Buying Secondhand Clothes for Baby

I can't believe the price of baby clothing! Somehow I feel uncomfortable buying second hand clothes for my sweetpea but we don't really have a lot of money to waste. What do you think?

I think you’d be surprised at how many people purchase secondhand clothing for their kids and babies. My first foray into “gently used” clothes (other than clothes borrowed from friends) was at a mothers of multiples club garage sale. I liked being able to really inspect the baby clothes before I purchased – something you can’t do on eBay or Craigslist. Since my first secondhand purchase, I have bought many items on eBay and have been satisfied with the condition and quality of almost all of my finds. Most regular sellers on eBay, I have found, are honest and thorough in their descriptions.

Think about it – most baby clothes are worn for a few weeks or months and then placed into a bin or on a shelf, never to be worn again. The garments still have a lot of good life in them – they are rarely worn out in any way and only sometimes stained (and most don’t even try to sell the stained stuff). You can save HUGE money by buying used at garage sales, church sales, consignment sales or shops or online. I think that more and more people are doing it (witness the huge turnout to seasonal consignment sales) these days. I think you’ll be surprised at how much you can save and how many great things you can find.
