Re:Do Babies Get Jet Lag?
Yes. Babies are affected by jet lag like the rest of us. And the bad news is that west to east travel is usually the hardest time change to adjust to. But you can start preparing a few weeks in advance by moving his bedtime later by 10 to 15 minutes a night until you’ve got him on east coast time – of course, this means he might be getting up at east coast time too! When you get to Maine, try to get your baby out into the sunshine for a while. It helps greatly with the body’s adjustment to the new time zone. Get him right into the new time zone’s sleep schedule as best as you can. Continue to feed him on demand if that’s what you do at home. Otherwise, get him onto an east coast eating schedule too. It will be hard for a day or so – but, like the rest of us, he should sort it out fairly quickly.
