Re:Do I Need a Carrier or a Stroller for Travel with Baby?
It really depends on you, your baby and your travel destination. If you’re going to have an outdoorsy vacation, I’d skip the stroller and go with a carrier like a sling, pouch, front pack or back pack. If you’re a babywearer in your everyday life, you’ll want to continue that on vacation. One caveat: if you are going to be on your feet all day, someplace like Disney World perhaps, you might want to have a stroller available if your back or neck get sore after many hours of baby wearing.
If, on the other hand, your destination is more urban, more touristy or your baby just isn’t a sling or front pack baby, a stroller is right for you. For travel, look for the lightest but sturdiest stroller you can find. You’ll have to check your stroller at the airport and you really don’t want to mess with a heavy piece of equipment there or at the hotel or at your other destinations. I love the umbrella strollers for travel. (But young infants can’t do umbrella strollers – no recline – so infants might be easiest in a sling or front pack.)
