Re:Is it safe to take my baby on a cruise?
It is safe to take a baby on a cruise but it is just not very practical. You will have to pack several days worth of formula that will not be able to be refrigerated so you will have to throw away what your baby does not use.
The same is true of the baby food you bring. You will have a sink to wash the spoon in but you won’t be able to save any food in baby food jars that the baby doesn’t use in a single setting. Those jars will have to be thrown away.
You will also have to pack a suitcase full of diapers and clothes. The baby will use a lot of diapers during an extended cruise and there will be no way to get any more if you run out. Plan on at least 6 diapers a day and don’t forget to pack wipes for bowel movements and to clean the baby off with.
Most cabins in a cruise are very small and few cruise ships will offer you a crib. The beds are narrow and you run the risk of rolling over on your baby or having your baby fall off the cot it sleeps in.
There are generally showers in the cabin but the sinks are small and there are no tubs to bathe the baby in. You will have to sponge bathe your baby during the cruise or put him or her in the shower with you.
There are no real dangers of going on a cruise with a baby. The baby is as safe as you are but the baby probably won’t have any fun as most fun is designed for adults and children may disrupt the adult activities.
