Default Need Two Cribs? Or Can They Share?

Expecting twins throws up so many questions! Do I need to buy two cribs or can the babies share one?

Mine shared one crib for about four months. They even shared an isolette at the hospital for much of their stay. Too cute.

Anyway, where was I? Oh, the crib. They were little and they both fit. They were used to being together. They didn’t wake each other – a feat I still don’t understand. And they didn’t know how to roll over yet. They often did somehow scoot closer to one another as they slept, which generally melted my heart.

At about four months, they started working on rolling over and, coincidentally, I started working on getting them to sleep through the night. So, into separate beds they went.

One note: I did (and still do) let them nap separately. They have always napped differently and I didn’t want one to lose out on the sleep he needed because the other one was ready earlier.

Eventually, they’ll move around a lot and they’ll get so big that two cribs will be necessary.

They can usually share till about 3 months or so. Unless one is waking the other up! My twin grandkids have never been together because my granddaughter has bad reflux and cried alot. But they are together when awake. You just have to see what happens. They will eventually need seperate cribs but usually not in the beginning.

My twins shared a crib for about 6 months. You can actually by a crib divider when they start scooting and bothering each other.
