From the mouths of babes - Most embarrassing moments
Kids say some amazing things. They are so innocent and just speak their minds. Unfortunately, they sometimes do it at the worst moments. What are a few embarrassing or awkward positions that your kids have put you in??
For us, we have many, but I'll share two from when Michael was 5.
#1. I was standing in line at the grocery store with Michael and he seemed to be fixated on the guy in front of us. He just stared. And stared. And without taking his eyes off this guy he said, "Dad, we're supposed to be afraid of ugly people, right?"
#2. We had just moved to Texas and were taking our empty boxes to a box center rather than throw them out. As we walked into the warehouse it had a bit of a musty aroma. We approached a woman sitting behind the desk and Michael blurts out, "Wooo...smells like a sweaty boob in here."
No idea where this came from. After all, this child hadn't been near a boob in 4 years, let alone a sweaty one. I was mortified and it took a while to let down our guard when he opened his mouth from that point on.
Have any moments to share of your own?

Re: From the mouths of babes - Most embarrassing moments
Well, my most red faced moment involves my daughter who is high functioning autistic. She didn't speak for a long time, but during speech therapy she stunned us all by saying
"*F*-a-doodle-doo!"
Her therapist laughed and assured us even that was progress.
And I never, ever watched a movie with foul language with her even possibly awake again. That line was from Sean of the Dead.

LOL! Too funny. As embarrassing as these things are at the moment, you can't help but laugh once you're actually out of the situation!

Re: From the mouths of babes - Most embarrassing moments
Well, my youngest says what's on her mind all the time.
She once said, while looking at my wedding photo, "Daddy should've married someone prettier than you."
I said what? , and she repeated it TWICE! Then when she looked at my face, she said she was just joking. She's said that she doesn't like someone because they are ugly, which is very embarrassing!

Re: From the mouths of babes - Most embarrassing moments
My son is 24 now, but when he was about 5 or so...he used to hear me tell my husband, "Babe, I'm not feeling well...I'm on my period!" Apparently I must have said that often, cuz we were at the community pool one day and there were little kids playing rough and splashing him and he said "Please Stop" and they kept on and he kept asking them to stop and then I heard frustration in his voice and heard him yell "Stop, leave me alone...I'm on my period" Of course he did not know what being "on your period" meant, he just knew that that is what Mom used to say when she wasn't feeling good. So I thought that was pretty funny and a little embarrassing, good thing the kids didn't know what that meant either ! I tell him that story now, and he too thinks that is pretty funny.

Your son is 24? By your picture I'd think YOU were 24. You look fantastic. And I loved the story. Hopefully Michael won't give us more examples any time soon.

Re: From the mouths of babes - Most embarrassing moments
When my daughter was 5 weeks old we were at my great grandmother's 90th brthday party. My husband took her into my greatgrandmother's bedroom to change her diaper. While he was changing her, she EXPLODED!!! There was poop all over her, my husband, my great grandmothers hand crochetted WHITE bedspread, the WALL, the floor. It was a mess. The only thing that anyone had for my husband to change into where my 13 yr old little brothers basketball shorts and t shirt from basketball practice. Lol!!! So in all of the photos, everyone is dressed in their Sunday best and there is my husband, looking like Michael Jordan!!! Lol!

Re: From the mouths of babes - Most embarrassing moments
When I was a single Mom with three daughters, I also had a daycare. I took the older children shopping with me one day. Near the dairy case, a young man turned around and saw me with five children crawling all over my cart. He saked if these were all my kids. I told him no, some were from my daycare. My oldest, then 5 years of age, spoke up and said, "I am the oldest, and I have two sisters, but my Mom also miscarried her first baby and my little brother died when he was one." I turned away from her smiling, looked at the young man, and he smiled and said quietly, "Wouldn't you just love to tape their mouths shut sometimes?" I nodded and then giggled the rest of the way through my trip.

Re: From the mouths of babes - Most embarrassing moments
I am a walking dart board for offended glances, as my kids always make astute and socially awkward observations.
Once we were looking for houses and the actual builder was in the house while we looked at it. Trenton was entranced with the guy's eye. It was sewn shut and I knew the question/comment was coming but I tried to get them out of the house without it coming out. Didn't happen. Trenton turned as we left and shouted out , "See ya later Popeye!" OMG. I wanted to die!
More to come...
