You are a lot heavier than you were before you were pregnant and things like your ribs, hips and pelvis hurt more from the weight of the baby or the pressure of the baby on your joints and bones.

There is very little you can do about your hip hurting when you lie on it except perhaps to buy one of those cushions you put on your bed top that take the pressure off of joints and body parts. Putting a pillow under your stomach and lying a bit more forward can help as well.

If those things don’t help, you may have to lie on your back for a period of time. Poor sleep is common in pregnancy and it is due to these particular reasons. Nothing is completely comfortable. You can try to take Tylenol before going to bed but it will last only four hours and may not help completely. Fortunately, this completely passes as soon as you have the baby and you will have a completely different reason for not being able to sleep.
