Default Re:I feel pressure, as though I need to push when the baby moves!

The urge to push actually comes from pressure on the rectum which feels like you want to push out a bowel movement. If the baby is low in the pelvis, its head will be pushing on your bladder and rectum, giving you the feeling of wanting to push. It can give you tremendous pressure and is completely normal. The baby may also put pressure on your bladder making it feel like you have to urinate immediately.

Sometimes, it can make you a little bit incontinent of urine. This is also very normal. You may or may not feel the same thing if the baby is breech, only this time it isn’t the head pushing on these structures. These symptoms become more noticeable as the baby gets heavier in the third trimester and certainly more so after the baby drops into the pelvis and is sitting directly on the rectum and bladder. A baby can “drop” as early as thirty five or so weeks or as late as right before the delivery. This is when you will notice these symptoms more.
