Re:When the baby moves it is very painful is this normal?
The baby’s first movements are light and feel like a butterfly is in your stomach. Then the movements feel like little kicks but are not painful. As the baby grows, however, the kicks and movements are very strong and can feel painful to some women. It can kick or move its head on the bladder, making it feel like you have to go to the bathroom all of a sudden. It can kick under the ribs, hurting the ribs.
Some women are more sensitive to movements and feel them as painful because the baby is much stronger in the third trimester and its kicks and movements are very strong. There is not much you can do about the pain of kicking except to relax and know this is very normal.
You can take Tylenol periodically to control some of the kicking pain but do not take it regularly. You should take it at night to feel more comfortable when you are sleeping or you can take it when the kicking is particularly bad. Taking any medication on a regular basis, even Tylenol, should be something you talk with your doctor about.
