Default The joys of constipation

At 30 weeks of pregnancy, I am having recurring problems with constipation. I would rather avoid medication. Are there some foods that will help me to stay more regular?

Your best bet is to watch the fiber intake of foods and seek out foods with a lot of fiber, along with drinking a fair amount of water. Fiber containing foods are those like whole grain breads and whole grain cereals, fresh vegetables and foods that have been fortified with fiber. Fiber bulks up the stool and, along with the water, allows stool to pass easily. You can also consider a stool softener which doesn’t get into your system but allows the stool to pass easier from the colon. If diet alone does not cause a change in your bowels, talk to your doctor about safe medical alternatives to diet for your bowels.
