Re:Exercises for Back Pain?
A good brisk walk should help keep you stretched out. You may want to use a support belt which stretches across your low back and relieves some of the pressure by lifting your belly slightly. You can also try pelvic tilts - lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet on the floor (your pelvis will be slightly tilted). Flatten the lower part of your back against the floor. You can also do this same movement, flipped around, on your hands and knees. The pelvic tilt can be performed while lying on your back, standing, on your hands and knees, or sitting.
You can also do some good back stretches. Start on your hands and knees, with your legs wide apart and hands placed forward in front of your head. Sit back on your knees and stretch your arms forward to stretch your spine and back muscles. To stretch your chest muscles, stand with your head up and your back straight. Clasp your hands behind your back and slowly stretch your arms up and back to feel a stretch in the front of your shoulders and arms. For your neck, roll your head forward and then side to side, then back.
I also found that sitting on stability/exercise ball helped to stretch out my aching back. I would just pull it out, plop down and watch TV while my spine stretched. Then I would stretch out the rest of my muscles as I sat.
