Re:I think I have been having contractions for a few days, is my baby at risk?
It is not uncommon to have several days of false labor or Braxton-Hicks contractions that do little to dilate the cervix and are not harmful to the baby. It just means your body is getting ready to go into labor and the uterus is practicing. Usually, the contractions will be regular for a few hours and then will be irregular. They can hurt on occasion and then not hurt for awhile.
These are normal false labor patterns that the baby generally tolerates just fine. These contractions aren’t very strong and the baby may not even notice them. When the contractions become painful or steadily regular at five minutes apart or less, you should see the doctor to see if you are in labor. They will check both you and the baby out to make sure the baby is tolerating the contractions and to see if you are dilating at all.
