Default Single Mom - How Can I Handle This Alone?

My boyfriend and I have broken up when I was five weeks pregnant. I have decided to go ahead and be a single mom. But the closer my due date comes the more overwhelmed I feel. Having a new baby is a big adjustment but how can I possibly do this on my own?

Default Re:Single Mom - How Can I Handle This Alone?

You’ll do it like thousands of other single moms do it every day, every month, every year. You are stronger than you realize. The mind and the body can pull off amazing feats when necessary.

All of that being said, you should definitely reach out to family and friends for physical and emotional support. Despite the power of a single mom, she will still need some help or a break from time to time. If you don’t have family nearby and aren’t so sure about your friends, you can also seek out a moms’ support group. Often there are even single moms’ support groups. Check the internet or your OB’s office or your pediatrician’s office for referrals. Just finding someone to meet at Starbucks for a quick coffee and the opportunity to vent about something can be priceless when you have no other outlet.
