Default Faster weight gain in second trimester, is that normal?

I only gained about five pounds during the first trimester. However, I have gained an additional eight pounds in the last six weeks. Is this okay or do I need to cut back on what I eat?

Ideally, you should gain about a half pound per week in the first trimester and a pound a week during the second and third trimesters. Your weight gain is perfectly acceptable for this stage in pregnancy and, as long as you stay in this track, you will have gained only slightly more than is acceptable for the pregnancy. It will not be harmful to the baby but it will be weight that you will eventually have to lose when the pregnancy is over with.
