Default Is Seatbelt Use Safe during Pregnancy?

I am unsure what to do about seatbelts while pregnant. Of course I know how dangerous riding in a car without a seatbelt is. On the other hand I have heard that the seatbelt can hurt an unborn baby in case of accident. What is best to do?

I think you should definitely wear your seatbelt. If you make sure that the lap portion of the belt is tight across your hips, it should be riding underneath your belly. This should still leave the shoulder lying across your shoulder, between your boobs and down to your hip. Positioned this way, the belt can save your life and that of your unborn baby.
