Default Tips for Morning Sickness on an Overseas Flight?

I am hoping to visit my family overseas in two weeks when I will be ten weeks pregnant. Unfortunately, I am really suffering from morning sickness and not just in the morning either. I can’t imagine how I will get through the plane ride, feeling as I do. Still, I haven’t seen my family in over a year and do not want to cancel the trip. Is there anything that would help me through the plane ride?

Have a little something in your stomach before the trip begins. And pack your purse or carry-on with other small snacks to settle your riled-up insides during flight – some pretzels, some crackers, something like that. You might want to also pack a can of ginger ale (or another liquid you know will calm your stomach) and a bottle of water (or ask for these things immediately upon entering the plane, explaining that you have morning sickness – the attendant will probably choose finding you an early drink over cleaning up your vomit). And a toothbrush and toothpaste. And maybe even a few extra bags just in case the vomit bag is missing from the seat-back in front of you.

Don’t take your prenatal vitamins until after the plane ride. Those things can really make a stomach wild. You might also want to try some “preggie pops” – suckers which are formulated with special flavors and herbs that are supposed to fight nausea. Hey, it’s worth a try! Also in that category might be a motion sickness bracelet that uses pressure points to combat nausea.

If all else fails, you should probably check to see if there are any open seats near the bathrooms. Gross, I know – but what’re you gonna do?! Good luck!
