Re:When Can I Find Out if It's Twins?
I knew at nine weeks. My obstetrician ordered an ultrasound due to a previous experience with first trimester miscarriage. Because of that history, the early ultrasound could rule out any similar problems and, most importantly, put my mind at ease. Twice before, I had this early ultrasound. I was stunned to see two little flickering blobs on the screen!
So, if your doctor will order an ultrasound, you should be able to see twins even early in the first trimester. If it’s really early, the sonogram will likely be via a transvaginal view because the fetus(es) are still quite tiny.
If she is reluctant to order such diagnostics, she will be able to observe your weight gain and uterus growth over the weeks. Anything greater than the ordinary may spark a curiosity that will be solved only by ultrasound.
