It is common to feel shortness of breath or a fainting-like feeling when lying on your back during the latter half of pregnancy because the expanding uterus is lying on top of the aorta and vena cava. When this happens, the circulation to the uterus gets impaired and it makes you feel faint. It can hurt the baby. For that reason, you should avoid those exercises that have you lying on your back.
