Default Pilates at 18 weeks pregnant

I have started Pilates a while ago. Now I am 18 weeks pregnant. Lately, I have noticed that my joints start to hurt after exercising. Is it just my imagination or is that really because of the pregnancy? How can I best avoid this problem?

Pilates is a good exercise for women into their second trimester of pregnancy. It strengthens the muscles and increases the flexibility. Because, however, the pregnant body secretes a hormone called relaxin, the joints tend to be hyper-flexible and can begin to ache during and after exercise. It is uncomfortable but it is not dangerous so that should not interfere with you doing Pilates.
