Default Am I gaining enough weight during my pregnancy?

I am almost half-way through my pregnancy and have only gained three pounds. Is that normal? Do I need to eat more?

Default Re:Am I gaining enough weight during my pregnancy?

On average, a woman gains a half a pound a week for the first trimester and a pound a week throughout the second and third trimesters. This is a general guideline to follow and there are many women who gain more or less than that. An average is about 25 pounds for an entire pregnancy.

If a woman is a little overweight to begin with, she can learn substantially less than that. On the other hand, underweight women should gain a little bit extra. If you are of a normal or under-weight, however, you may wish to begin to eat more so that your baby gets the nutrition it needs. Talk to your doctor or a dietitian to find ways to gain weight in a healthy way during the rest of the pregnancy.
