Stretch marks occur due to rapid stretching of the skin so that it splits underneath the skin, leaving stretch marks. There are no specific foods for stretch marks but if you keep your overall weight gain down, you will have a reduced chance of getting stretch marks. Skin softening cocoa butters and lotions will help a little bit but it has a great deal to do with heredity and how much (and how fast) your weight gain is.

Stretch marks are caused when the skin expands too fast. This can be due to sudden weight gain. These stretch marks are more common in pregnant women. Stretch marks are permanent. If you want to cure stretch marks you will have to go for some expensive treatments like laser treatment. This article on how to prevent stretch marks gives you tips on preventing stretch marks. When the skin expands beyond its limit the inner layer of the skin actually tears. Stretch marks are also a result of loss of collagen and elastic within the skin. When stretch marks appear, the skin below the epithelium shows and looks streaked.
Initially these stretch marks appear pink or purple and the capillaries of the skin get damaged. As time passes these stretch marks turn white. Sometimes excessive loss in weight may also result in stretch marks. These stretch marks are more common in the abdomen, hips, breasts, thighs and upper arms. All pregnant women develop stretch marks on their abdomen.
