Re: Twinges in My Belly
It could mean nothing but it could mean something. Many women feel some early cramping or “twinges” early in their pregnancies due to the implantation of the fertilized egg into the uterus. Sometimes these cramps are even accompanied by fairly light, brown spotting. Some women, though, have similar symptoms with an ectopic pregnancy where the egg has implanted itself in a fallopian tube. Often but not always, the pain is sharp and localized. There may be red or brown spotting. The pain will probably get worse with activity. If your twinges are relatively painful and persistent, call your OB and ask them if your symptoms suggest further evaluation. If the tube has ruptured, you will experience pain in your shoulder and/or dizziness. In that case, call 911 immediately.
