Default Feeling Dizzy

I have been feeling decidedly dizzy at times. Is that a normal pregnancy symptom or should I ask my doctor about it?

Regular dizziness is rarely a normal condition. That being said, occasional lightheadedness is not uncommon in pregnancy. Your cardiovascular system (and blood pressure) are going through some massive changes. Make sure that you sit down or lie down whenever you feel lightheaded – a fall could be a much bigger problem than the dizziness. Lying on your left side will actually maximize the blood flow to your heart and head – so give that a try first.

Some of the common causes for dizziness in pregnancy are standing too fast after a long period of sitting, getting up from lying on your back, not eating or drinking enough and getting overheated. If your dizziness does not seem to be related to these types of events, you should probably explore your situation a bit with the doctor.
