Re:Can I Get Away with Regular Clothes During Pregnancy?
It depends somewhat on your pre-pregnancy size. Women who are very petite and thin may not ever get very big during their pregnancies. Women who are very large may not change shape or size too much at all. For those of us in between though, there will be some pretty major size variations.
You can probably avoid actual, technical maternity wear if you try. Loungewear and exercise wear can really go far in a pregnancy. Yoga pants were my saving grace while pregnant and post-partum.
But toward the end of your pregnancy, you will very likely need to at least buy shirts which are substantially larger than your normal size. So, whether they are regular clothes or maternity clothes, it is likely that you’ll have to buy SOMETHING new to cover your belly for those last few weeks. In the meantime, stretchy pants, empire waist tops and dresses and long (or borrowed from your husband) shirts and sweaters should work if you want them to. You can always use a belly band to get more use from your non-maternity pants and skirts.
