Default How long did it take you to conceive?

The previous thread got me thinking... I'm a healthy 22 yr old female so I've just been assuming I will conceive almost immediately. Is it common or uncommon to conceive within, say, 2 weeks? How long did it take others?

With my first I charted and was pregnant the first month. I used the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. #s 2 and 3 were surprises lol.

Interesting. This may sound crude, but why do people who really want to conceive use a birth chart and all those other things when they can just, er, have fun every day and cover all the possibilities?

I don't know about everyone else, but I had to be at work at 6am and dh didn't get home until 8pm back then! Every day was not going to be happening lol - I like my sleep too! Also, every other day is better if the man has lower sperm counts iirc.

It took me two months the first time. Two months the second time and one month the third, unfortunately two and three ended in miscarriage.

Well, sometimes it takes your body a while to get back on track after taking birth control pills. With my first child, it took us 10 months of ttc. I was 23 when we started (24 when I got pg). We just tried the whole "do it alot" method for about eight months and it just didn't work. Then I got the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility (like someone else mentioned) and charted. I got pregnant almost immediately. With my second, I had just weaned my daughter three months earlier, so my periods were kind of sporadic, and getting pg kind of was a surprise. This time I have been using an IUD for two years. I just had it removed and we are in the two month "holding" period Good luck!

It took my husband and I just a month and a half.
It's such a crapshoot - I have friends that have been trying for over a year without luck. There are so many factors including diet, weight, fitness level.

I had been on the pill for 10 years before we started TTC, and I had read that it often takes pill users longer. I asked my doctor about it and she said that wasn't always true. Low and behold, she was right.

Good luck. I hope it works out for you.

Total crapshoot for me as well. First time around it took only one month of trying. Second time around, it took almost a year.

For me and my husband it tooks us about three weeks. We were shocked to say the least. I had been on birth control for about a year and a half so we figured we would get pg a while after we stopped it.
