Default Numbness By Incision Site

Any of you have a c-section? I've had two, both with my sons. One was emergency because I was very sick. The second was scheduled-but kind of unexpected because I went into labor the day before the surgery was due.

After the first I had numbness from my belly button down to the incision. Now, with this one, it is 5 months later and I have numbness still, but also a bruised feeling. Yes, still sore. I had a lot more bruising with this surgery and wondered if anyone else has pain this long or numbness for several years, too?

I personally have not had a cesarean, but I have heard the same complaint from a few of my clients who have. One of my clients is 18 months post op and still numb. I hope it feels better soon! I wish I had some advice about how to 'fix' it for you!

Hi! I had similar situations to you. My first was emergency and my second was "supposed" to be planned and ended up early. I had numbness around my incision and about 2 inches up for a year. Sometimes (three years later) I still have some numbness. I don't know if it's normal, but I have it too.

I hope the soreness does, it's really not much and only when touched. But, with 4 under 8, you get lots of jumps and tight hugs!

Thanks for your thoughts :-)

Same here, it will be 3 years since the first in September. I've heard one other person mention the numbness, but she was only 3 months into. The surgeon with my last birth joked that they could have skipped the meds...yikes!

Yes...this can be the norm for some..

I have had 3 sections and a open hyster with tummy tuck ..I had alot of numbness with the c-sections..even after 5 years I still had no light touch feeling right over the scar..Since my hyster 12 weeks ago I have to say that it feels much better then before..I was told by my surgeon that because they removed the old skin and scar and pulled down the new skin to make a new scar, the tissue is fresh and hadn't been damaged before...

But like I said..it is very common..You can however turn that around by doing some massage to the scar and what is called scar mobliization..it free's up the tissue in that area and stimulates the blood to that area which will promote deep tissue healing and nerve regeneration...you can use any massage oil...if you would like instruction you can email me...

Hope that helps...
