Default What kind of birth are you having, hospital, birth center or home birth?

I am curious as to what kind of birth you chose and why!
I am choosing to give birth in a birth center. I want to have an unmedicated natural birth.
I chose a birth center because of extensive research that I have done on all the medical interventions that are done in hospitals, and I enjoy the birth center atmosphere much more, it's like a bed and breakfast!

Well, I'm pretty done having kids (at least for now lol) and I had 1 hospital birth and 2 home births. I had the hospital birth because I didn't do any research whatsoever and that was where you went to have babies. I had the homebirths because I didn't like my hospital birth experience. Being at home was wonderful - I got to curl up in my own bed with my new baby and go to sleep and not worry about people poking and prodding me!

I'm going to have a homebirth because 1, its the only option my awesome midwife offers, and two, what better place to have the most special experience of your life?

I will be having a hospital birth as I am having a scheduled repeat c-section.

I'm going to have an unassisted birth, with my partners loving support. My first child was born in the hospital, and after 2 absolutely flawless water births, I am ready to birth my child at home and just the way I generally like my environment...peaceful, no interference. I was longing to push when my son started crowning at home, in the tub...but went to the midwifery center instead, that was hard to do....Bumpy car ride!

Why are you choosing an unassited birth over a midwife attended homebirth? I'm just curious - I love hearing why people choose what they choose

Only because it feels right for me, the midwives I had were wonderful. I felt at my births that they were not really needed...Just like taking the car out by myself after I learned to drive...It feels really free! I don't recommend it, unless a woman and her support group are experienced at birth and she knows her capacity to birth without medical intervention.

Thank you so much!!! I is a very personal decision, I didn't even know it was an option until I started exploring it further. Whatever birth path a woman chooses for the right reasons is perfect!

I'm having a natural homebirth with a midwife. When we were still in our apartment I was considering the birthing center that my midwife is affiliated with...because it was close to where we lived and would have been a bit more comfortable than our teeny apartment. However, when we moved to our house I changed my mind. Our bedroom is twice as big as the rooms at the birthing center...and no sharing a bathroom!! We've got a garden tub in our bathroom for laboring in and the bathroom is literally steps from my side of the bed.

When people ask why I am choosing a natural homebirth I am very honest about it. The simple truth of the matter is that I am a big weenie. Hospitals make me nervous and I absolutely HATE needles!! Even though my normal threshold for pain is rather low, I can put up with a lot if it means avoiding hospitals and needles!! I know, cause I typically suffer from horrible migraines (thank goodness those have mostly subsided while pregnant)!!
