Creativity And Pregnancy
I'm going into my 7th month of my fourth pregnancy and I have noticed with each one that I have felt an immense creative drive. I'm an artist and designer and more than any other time in my life, pregnancy has brought this creativity to a climax. Nesting, maybe? Has anyone else noticed this, if so...What do you create with it?

Re: Creativity And Pregnancy
I love it! I've never heard of that before. I'm a creative person anyway and I am so excited for you. What do you like? Graphic design? Card making/scrapbooking? Sewing? Cooking? Redecorating? Painting? Whatever creative niche you have I would encourage you to run with it. Make several items to possibly display around your house or to sell and make a little extra cash. Be careful not to obsess over it though, just let it be fun!

Re: Creativity And Pregnancy
Oh thank you!
Hmmm, art of any sort really. The last few years sewing and fiber art has been my mainstay in creativity. You can check out my new etsy store at EternalRootsDesign.etsy.com and see some of my art. Happy creating to you, and all!

Re: Creativity And Pregnancy
Anything for my children. I decided to go all out for my 1st sons bed room. I wanted a different bedding, and I couldnt find anything to match it, but I had an outfit I wanted to mimick. I took the out fit, blew up the cartoon-ish whales and traced them onto mason board. I jigsawed them out and painted them all with different patterns. Five whales, all brown, blue, light blue, and tope. A daddy brown with blue circles, a mommy, blue with brown circles, a brother with stripes, a sister with blue stars, and a baby with 70's deco squares. It was perfect for my little boy and it was just what I wanted. I also took the time to paint his name on the wall in matching colors above his baby bed. It was one heck of a room! I was and still am very proud of it! I wish I had some pictures to show you!

Re: Creativity And Pregnancy
Oh that sounds absolutely beautiful! I remember painting my daughters nursery in grassy slopes, blue skies, with animals, cartoon style giraffes, sheep, bears, ducks. It was so fun to paint a faux window looking into a garden, and the balloon that the teddy bear was holding had her name on it.
I also wish I had pics, and could see your masterpiece!!!! What fun, thank you for sharing!

Re: Creativity And Pregnancy
I don't do a whole lot of crafty stuff or sew much...even though I am decent with crafts and sewing. But for my little guy I did get a little creative with fixing up his room (though nothing that involved jigsaws or freestyle painting)!!
The colors I picked for little guy's room are blue, green, and tan (cause I love blue and green myself...and we'd just moved into our new house with freshly painted tan walls, and I didn't feel like repainting)!! I found a font I liked and blew it up to create letter templates which I used to cut out the letters of my little guy's name on tan scrapbooking paper...which I then pasted to alternating sheets of green and blue designed scrapbooking paper. Those got placed, one letter to a frame, in wood 8x10 picture frames and hung on the wall.
I found in my trunk of childhood mementos a silhouette of me from the 2nd grade and a silhouette of my little brother from kindergarden...I shrunk those down to a good size and made templates of them as well...tan silhouettes on blue paper...and those were put into frames as well for another wall.
I found a nursery print fabric of blue, green, and tan stripes to help tie my colors in the nursery together. The crib, changing table, and glider/ottoman are all white...but the glider/ottoman cushions are green and most of the bedding and changing table stuff is blue. So with the striped fabric I made a bulletin board and am making curtains, a crib skirt, a small lumbar pillow for the glider, and possibly some different basket liners for the changing table.
I am hoping to post pics of the finished room on my blog within the next couple of days...so ya'll can check it out!!
